Is your baby developing slow?
The speed of development of motor movements has nothing to do with intelligence.
The development of each baby is mainly determined by genes that affect the rate of development of the nervous system. Sitting, standing up, walking, laughing and saying certain words at a certain age are pre-programmed. In a very small proportion of babies, they are all expected to occur; it is faster in most, and slower in some. For example, a baby can laugh and talk very early, but may not sit until around an age. Another person can walk for 8 months, but even at the age of one she/he may not be able to keep small things. The speed of development of motor movements has nothing to do with intelligence.
Although many things are late for other children, if there is a gradual development within normal limits, there is usually nothing to be considered. If the development is rather slow compared to other children, it is useful to see a doctor. Most of the time, such an interview relaxes the family. Some children are slow, but completely normal.
